....... SO I tried Expert mode in single player to see how ruthless it is
The zombies dont run any faster and the specials (didnt get to see tank or witch) dont seem to take a lot more hits. Hunters, Smokers and Boomers drop just as fast (roughly).
But ... when we do get to expert mode... friendly fire is bad... getting hit by zombies is bad... car alarms are bad...
Friendly Fire: A single Uzi bullet to the head is about 25-30%. Luckily if you hold down the trigger there is a delay between bullets hitting so a spray will do 1-2 bullets max.
Shotguns... are another matter... 1 shotgun friendly fire = knock down and 75% left from complete death... thats anywhere on the body.
Regular zombies do 20dmg per swing... but when you're knocked out you seem to stay a bit longer (or normal). It is thoroughly frightening that 5 zombie swings put you incapacitated.
You don't get to grab ledges as you fall (or some other mechanic was stopping me), but fall damage wasn't all that different. I was able to jump from the top of the starting house land on a generator and then drop to the ground with 80 hp.
I got hit by a hunter but the computer got rid of them quick so didn't really notice much.
Boomers can hurt since zombies hit so much, and the zombies react a lot faster to the bile, and the first zombie will show up about 2 seconds after the bile is out.
Smokers are all over the place, but the NPC's reactions stopped anyone from really being scrweed.
Car alarms... well... I hit the one in front of the subway safe house in No Mercy 1 and by the time I turned around the entire street was flooded...
So facing the car with the safe house behind me, I turned down the alleyway and the entire fence was covered with zombies coming up and over, down the road they came out of the building (breaking down the doors), and from the way past the cop cars, and they also charged from right dead end fence.
Definitely looking forward to it... Friendly fire is bad mmkay.
Edit: Looked into it a bit more... Hunters 3-4 shot to incapacitate after the initial pounce, Tanks 2 shot period.
Found some tips on tanks tho... 1. Tanks run faster than survivors when not being shot at. When being shot at by any bullet it will slow just barely behind survivor speed.
2. To get a tanks attention you run up and double melee him and its instant aggro to you.
3. Must get tanks to climb things. The jump down is regular speed, but climb up is always slow.
4. Don't reload on tanks when he's anywhere near your team, switch to pistols and unload that first and hopefully stagger bullet flow to keep him slowed while the kiter keeps going. If the kiter has distance then reload.
5. Tanks rock will target you and includes in the direction and speed you're going at that time (when he picks up the rock). Tap right when he takes the rock and then go left for 100% avoidance.

Especially for us former Astarians, this will be a delightful read. It makes me feel like I played the wrong game during my teenage years. eve.klaki.net/heist/

Makes me want to play 14 day trial again... it was pretty as a game... just horribly slow paced.

EDIT: This is a D2 related post about a really bad character build. Its so hilarious to me right now I might even try it myself, though I absolutely refuse to solo with this build (and/or class, lol).
Someone make a shockwave druid and let the hilarity ensue. 13 second stun for 20 pts (lvl 24 talent, tier 5). Damn Warcry sucks. Oh yeah, and you'd still be otherwise useless. Completely. Werebear is so bad, lolol.
Though...as I think about it... It could, big emphasis on could, be useful if you ever played it to lvl 75-80, cause then you might be able to get enough +all skill to make a half decent elemental caster druid that also stuns for 19+ seconds (probably even more, 30 pts gives 19 sec stun). Though you'd have to constantly shift to stun, but it might be workable.

There's also a "Ranger" build, but the information I found was not detailed. Basically, a Paladin uses a bow and offensive auras like Fanaticism, certain runewords, and so forth, to kite enemies by dealing tons of damage to single targets. I think Hammerdins would be a bit easier to play and put together, but that's not usually why we play off-the-wall builds.
