Continued from the 8/22/07 Post on the Game Times Thread. Gonna see if we can make the LAN a two-parter. If people are available on Friday evening and Saturday, we could set up Friday evening, and have a nice day long killing spree on Saturday. As far as food is concerned... I say we do a potluck. Everybody brings something to eat = FOOD FTW! So that we don't go totally overboard on the same type of food, we could organize it, and have each person bring a different form of munchies. Categories are as follows: 1. Salad, or something that the health minded people will enjoy. 2. Snacks, or other miscellaneous junk food. 3. Prepared Dinner, for those who want to wow us with their cooking. 4. Desserts, or other horrendously unhealthy sweets and stuff. 5. Drinks, which will probably require the least effort, but most money. So... if anyone wants to volunteer to grab one or two of these slots, feel free to do so. Or, if you think this idea is crap, I guess you can post that too.

Sounds good, me and brian are in. Talked to my dad and he said we could borrow the projector as long as we bring it back in one piece and working condition. As far as food goes, not sure what to bring but I'm willing to chip in money for whatever won't kill me. Otherwise if I'm to bring food odds are I'll end up bringing random munchies and maybe a pizza or two.

I can get desserts! If you want a projector, I have a few we can use. Is this for a replacement monitor?

While we're on the subject of this get-together... what should I bring?
I can bring any of the following:
My "modded" PS2, just for like, GGAC, and maybe Beatmania. 1-2 Projectors Extra copy of Starcraft (though we can install spawns) Laptop of with Mech4 and UT2k4 Guitar Hero (they just came out with an 80's version of Guitar Hero... ftw)
Hmm, playing Mech 4 with a projector sounds fun.

I only have one copy of the game, even if I could dig out a laptop, unfortunately. I don't mind rotating off my laptop; but if this is the case, you'll want to stick to just one computer, since we all have different vastly control settings for Mech4, not to mention mechs. (i.e., Brian traditionally makes Howard Dean mechs, Jon usually contains missiles, mine contain rapid-fire weapons, and Chip is our meat shield.)

I guess I'll head over to fry's first then go over to chip's. Josh if you could still bring your laptop so I can use my copy I'd appreciate it.

Well, we're coming up on a 3-day weekend, and to get Dyuman in on the HERO System action we're playing Tomorrow instead of Saturday. Well, that leaves Friday, Saturday AND Sunday open (my Berkeley group wants to meet on Monday). So... Craig has been pushing to get another LAN party going (particularly with regard to delving back into Starcraft). So... any takers?

I wouldn't mind lanning again this weekend, but I'm only going to be free Friday/Saturday and maybe Sunday afternoon. We have an early flight monday morning so I'd rather not stay out too late on Sunday, and there's that whole packing thing I still need to do. I'll check with Brian but I'm pretty sure he'd be willing to lan as well with the same restrictions.

Alvin has expressed interest in a LAN as well, after talking to him yesterday (and this is before I read these posts). We should talk to him. He seemed to be particularly surprised at our resurging interest in Starcraft as well ;D.

So, Alvin's aware of the Saturday get-together, which is incidentally at noon. bring snacks, drinks and anything you might think would be useful. That said, here's the games we're probably gonna play: Starcraft Mechwarrior 4 UT 2004 Diablo II LoD (I've had the urge to play this game again, but not alone.) So yeah. Festivities are hopefully going to last from noon tomorrow to sometime in the evening on Sunday. See you guys then! EDIT: Jon and Brian, you guys should probably pack tonight... here's hoping you see this message. EDIT 2: Josh, bring the projector and your PS2 again. We'll probably be occupied with computer games most of the time, but I'd still like to brush up on my Guilty Gear skills when possible.

Well, since Dyuman has a copy of Mechwarrior 4 Mercs now, We have to LAN it at some point in the near future. What say you, gentlemen? shall we set a time to do so? By the way Dyuman, you're going to want to download the MekTek Mech Paks, and play around with the mess of new stuff they put into the game. You should go here: www.mektek.net/forums/index.php?automodule=downloads&cmd=viewcat&cat_id=27And grab the 3.0.2 patch. If I'm mistaken, someone who knows better than I respond up here. If it doesn't work properly, look around on the forums and someone should have a guide for installing it properly. Now... if only we could get Craig into it, and have him not get woozy or whatever from playing FPS games...

Just make sure you get the patch from Microsoft before getting Mektek... but they have all the instructions for doing this on the website.
I'm always up for Mech4.

If your (yoga dude's) computer is running Windows Vista, the patching is slightly different, I made a post about it in the mechwarrior thread before I read this thread, so to summarize Vista sucks.
Oh..it sucks because no matter what kind of account you're on, admin or guest, it restricts access to files/programs, so it won't give permission to any third party program/.exe/winpatch program that alters existing files on your computer. Fuck Vista. The solution is to patch using the "run as administrator" option (right click the patch file/exe or whatever and click the run as administrator option) for both the PR1 patch from Microsoft and the 3.02 patch from Mektek. KBYE.
