If for no other reason than to feed my ego, I have started a new thread to make uber awesome plans to next weekend. As most of you already know, tomorrow I will be headed down to the LA area in order to help my sister move in to her apartment.
However, I will be making up for this by having a four day weekend next week.
I scheduled my birthday free day off for the 29th, which not coincidently is the same weekend where I get monday off for Labor Day. Additionally, if we play efficiently this Sunday (assuming I only spend Friday and Saturday driving back and forth from LA), then this Sunday will be my last D&D session with my Berkeley group, at least until someone gets another game off the ground. This means I have four days without plans.
So... while some of that will involve cleaning that I've been meaning to get done for the last few months, the rest must undoubtedly be spent doing cool shit, such as play 4th ed, LAN, and so on. It also looks like the ideal time to finally grab a PS3 and Soul Calibur IV.
So... any other suggestions on how we can make the most of this time off?

Planning on 4th ed that weekend as free time will be a bit scarce afterwards with my brothers wedding. Something PS3 oriented could be nifty, if thats the case I can bring a controller over or a game out of what i've got (only a couple multiplayer ones tho that aren't FPS).

If you're doing something on the evening of the 29th, I'll be there. Otherwise, I was thinking about disappearing for Labor Day weekend. I need some time to back off from everything and think about some shit. If the plans are that big, I'll stick around, but otherwise, that weekend seemed to be one that just made sense to set aside. Lemme know what you have in mind so I can maybe compromise and plan things out. I don't wanna be a dick and miss your bday either.

All right, then... I'm thinking this would be a good itinerary for next weekend: Friday - YOGA 4th ED! Saturday - GolfLand+Lunch, Start Mech4/SC/UT2004 LAN Sunday - Continue LAN, vegetate. Monday - Continue LAN, Add Slayers viewing to the mix. **Soul Calibur IV interspersed if I manage to get it this weekend** Saturday will be the actual Birthday type deal, so my preference would be that if you can't make it to all four days of awesomeness, then at least make it to Saturday. That also said, if you want to grab anyone that doesn't read the forum and bring em along, then feel free to do so. I think the monthly discounted Namco games bulk order just came around again, so if I can get Soul Calibur IV through that, then I will be getting a PS3 to play it. So yeah... please give me input on this plan. Hopefully this works out for everyone.

Added a Poll to find out what game you guys would prefer to focus on during the LAN, so that we all know what we should be ready for.
Note that even if a game doesn't get many votes, I might still insist on playing it. *coughcough*soulcaliburIV*cough*

*SIGH* Well, I suppose it wouldn't be my birthday without a token "Everybody hates Chip" moment. So, SCIV costs $60 in stores right now. It costs $20 if I order it through work. Guess which route I'm taking. However, thanks to the unseen bureaucracy that is getting an order of games from the parent company to the subsidiary, my order for Soul Calibur IV isn't coming in 'til next week, so no dice on SCIV this weekend. So if you voted for SCIV, you might want to tweak your vote a little. God dammit. >_<;

I'll prolly WoW on Nic's comp or something if no SCIV, or Finish that one horror game thing, or Star Ocean if the multiplayer works.
Will you still have ps3 bought by tomorrow chip? if so, i can bring controllers so you don't have to buy them (I have like... 5 or so) and try a PS2 game with a gigaton of multiplayer.
Sadly Mercenaries 2 doesn't come out till the 31st, looks pretty crazy.
Another option could also be for me to grab disgeae 3, and have each person pick a character on there (ala what you mentioned you guys did with FFT) and play it...

My reflection on the poll (hahahahahaha pole) options...
D2 is the best option imo. It should require the least amount of game shifting, because we can play the game for hours, it's cheap, and we can crack it. My issues with other games:
SC: Too hard to make teams due to skill disparity. It gets discouraging getting Lurker/DT rushed for the nth time, or dying to a stream of neverending units, or getting sieged for what seems like forever. I feel for that. I personally like the game, but I can't speak for the group on this one.
SC (tits and swords version) IV: No hard copy of game.
Mech4: If we can get this to work for everyone, sure. That may mean not hosting at Chip&Craig's.
Fighters: The current group dilutes interest, not to mention the matchups are balls out unfair. Wait till SF4 to up your game.
UT(whatever version): BARF!
Not that I'm one to exclusively bitch about stuff, I'll have some constructive ideas, pros and cons included:
1. Rock Band. Not everyone plays, but I'll make the offer of bringing it in case some minds are open to playing. We don't have to play against each other on this and it's a safe party game.
2. Mario Kart Wii. It would be fun because, well, it's Mario Kart and masochistic. However, moving a Wii around is cocktastic, and keeping track of Wiimotes would be ghey.
3. Raw Deal. Yeah, I said it. Easy to learn, and I'll offer to build the decks. Just because it's something different. I have the skill and collection to make decks that won't have guaranteed wins on each other.
4. Poker. More card game ideas. Doesn't need to take up the entire day, either.
5. P90X party, where we go through every single workout in the set.

Like I said. We're playing D2. Its the easiest game for everyone to play, its mindless and you can play forever. That being said, I have a cd key generator for reg D2 and expansion D2 (yes you need 2 different cd key generators, hella gay) and an ISO for the D2 expansion disk. The only problem we (me, jon and alvin) was I was the only person capable of hosting (yeah, another hosting issue) because we have to play over TCP/IP because our generated cd keys won't be validated by battle.net.
BTW, apparently macs have issues if the OS is 10.5 (I think), we got Amanda (Alvin's girlfriend) to play D2, but we (Jon) had to alter her video card drivers because they took out 256 colors in either OS 10.4, or 10.5. Meaning, either someone brings a computer (Dyuman) or Craig's video card drivers need to be tweaked (This is why we all said to get a laptop - a non mac laptop).
Mech 4 is cool, but only if we can actually connect.
I love Starcraft, but ultimately I am unfair in this game. Unless we play UMS, but its difficult to find good UMS.
UT is fun, but only for about 30 mins - 1 hour until Josh and I try not to paint the room.
Fighters are cool, but theres the problem where not everyone is interested.
On the idea of card games, we can play UFS. I like...a lot of decks, none of which contain yoga gayness and almost all of which are very straight forward to play because I mostly play "ERRRAAHHHHHH" decks. And Alvin found most? of his cards last time I was at his house.
The problem with Rockband/Mario Kart is moving the shit around. I think Alvin is the only one with Rockband? So we'd have to get him to move all the stuff to wherever we LAN, and if we LAN at Alvin's place, not saying we are but..if we do we can't all fit in Alvin's room.
Actually the problem with most console games is we potentially have: me, Jon, Josh, Chip, Craig, Dyuman, and Alvin. 7 people playing 4 player games is alright, but inevitably I would (dunno about everyone else) get bored waiting to play, particularly if I didn't really like the game in the first place. But theres always the possibility of playing console games and other stuff, like card games on the side. Or something like that.
P90X....only if we don't do the yoga exercises...or anything cardio based. 7 guys in a single room sweating together? Fuck no.
...on a more serious note. If we do P90X, I'll probably drive home right after because I can't stand sitting around for hours in the same clothes after I work out and the odds of me being willing to driving back and forth are pretty slim (unless its close, which it probably won't be).

I'd suggest playing Windom XP since it's free and doesn't require a monster computer to run. Problems with this is that it is windows only and we'd probably need another computer to act as a game server so we don't get lagged to all hell when we play.
I'm fine with random card/console games, but there is the problem of moving consoles and cards that has already been brought up.
If we do play D2 we will probably need either 1 valid CD key, or a copy of D2 that will install on a mac for Craig's laptop (all our d2 cds are windows only). We did get it working on Amanda's computer but we had to use Blizzard's updated mac installers which required us to register Alvin's copy of D2 so we could download the installer.

I'll most likely just be doing D&D on friday and maybe drop by on saturday. Family has wedding stuff they need me to do over this weekend (2 weeks left), so I won't be bringing my computer along anywhere this weekend (nor do I have diablo).
Getting Breakfast with craig in the morning (no homo) if anyone wants to come - roughly assuming Chip and Josh would be only ones awake.
Hoping to start D&D around 2 or 3pm'ish, dunno if Brian and Alvin would want to be around for D&D, but you're welcome and I could try to incorporate you guys into the game if you like (maybe come a bit earlier to make a character).
