So... I think my desktop just died.
Was surfing around and got a few programs that end tasked themselves, so I went to run adaware and updated it and got a warning that the ad aware files were corrupted. So then I reset and it hasnt been able to start up since.
Does this sound more like a busted hard disk or a virus? If its a hard disk I can get ti fixed for free from central computers with my warranty, but if it's a virus I gotta figure out a way to get my computer to start up so I can get some antivirus mojo on there....
Thoughts?

Well that sucks. Not sure what your problem is, but it sounds like you're just fucked if you can't even get it to boot. How far into the boot process do you get before it stops working? Does the machine even get to the windows logo or do you just die on the black start up screen before anything even loads? Have you tried booting from a disk/cd instead of your hard drive?
Edit: What OS are you running on your desktop? Vista or XP? 32 bit or 64 bit? Home edition or professional?

Uh... so weirder shit.
I opened the case, sprayed some air in, closed it restarted and it works fine now.... Did error scan for the disk drive and it comes up fine...
Overheated maybe?

When you tried (and failed) to boot up your computer when it died, did nothing happen, blue screen popped up but nothing else, or other?
Since it works now, I'm assuming either something was loose power supply wires, connection to RAM/motherboard (answering the boot up question helps narrow what it could be - though most likely its the power supply if anything), or it overheated. I don't know if your computer is overclocked, but if that could also lead to overheating.
Either way, you should recheck all the connections inside the case and check how hot your computer runs, but you probably shouldn't keep your computer on for too long till you figure out what was wrong.
EDIT - Overheating is also more likely if you were sucking up a lot of system resources around when it died. More of your computer resources (processor/ram/etc) being used -> more heat.

er... the computer was on non stop for about 9 days...
could have been a heat issue.
It would basically go through bios, and would keep restarting when windows would go to boot (kinda where the progression line for vista comes up). Would flicker blue and then reset.
