Looks like this year's CES was a big push for 3D as well as 3D gaming.
Dreamworks, and James Cameron are both saying that they'll only work in 3D from now on, and Pixar is redoing toy story for 3D
Sony is pushing 3D for many of it's games and thinking about making it firmware updated to the ps3 and allow it for any 3d hardware driven tv. Glasses are still required, but they are polarized lenses instead of the red and blue.
Think this is mostly a fad that will pass or it's the new revolution?

It can be either. CES is a trade-show kind of thing where people show off concepts for further development, not like E3 where we get a sneak peek to get hype for things that are more certain to come out. The 3D idea, for instance, will have to survive funding, R&D for a final product that can be made on a consumable scale, and LOTS of scrutiny thanks to royal fuckups like the Virtual Boy.
Whereas at E3/TGS, Hideo Kojima can go on a longass MGS-style rant about how cool his game is and how we all should buy it so we can show off how deep we are.
