Ok, I had planned on going to Evo already last year, until they released the date saying it was on the weekend of the Olympics, which obviously made it not feasible for me.
This year, I'm not gonna be working in the summer, at least not formally and not full time, so I'm setting the weekend of July 17-19 to head to Evo. It'll be at the Rio, which is honestly one of the nicest, yet accessible hotels in that city. The rooms are f'n huge, and the discount should be quite nice, seeing as that particular weekend will be right after the WSOP, meaning a decrease in price. I've heard the current price is around $70 per person per night, and the Evo staff usually works a further discount for attendees.
I plan trips out pretty far ahead of time, so I intend to lock in my travel plans soon after they announce discounts for Evo attendees... hopefully they do that within the next few weeks. Airplane will be my chosen mode of transport. Obviously, this thread will be here to figure out room arrangements and the sort.
Incidentally, Anime Expo is going to be on July 2-5 in Anaheim. I am not sure I will spring money for two back to back trips like that, but we'll see. Evo is going to be a higher priority for me.
The game lineup is Guilty Gear AC, SF4, HD Remix, MvC2, SC4 (Chip!), and 3rd Strike 2v2. There will also be a TvC Invitational to watch and a 5 on 5 HD Remix exhibition as well. Pretty exciting stuff to watch.
