That seems like quite a fun idea. Too bad about the iPod part. On a similarly musical note (pun intended), Rock Band 2's list is out. I know not all of us play Rock Band, but I will be getting a PS3 for Rock Band 1 and 2 when I come back. Here are a few songs included on the list that might be of interest to us, even if it's just for hilarity's sake when we try to sing it: You Oughta Know - Alanis Morrissette Down With the Sickness - Disturbed One Step Closer - Linkin Park Eye of the Tiger - Survivor (How fucking badass is that? I call guitar) But the most badass addition for us all, because it's us... Ace of Spades - Motorhead Repeat after me: We are Motorhead. And we're here to kick your ass.

God damnit sony...
So seems that sony sales numbers for the PS3 suck so hard that Square couldn't have FF13 be exclusive.
Xbox360 is getting it as well. The one game that could have almost single handedly saved Sony's ass.
Seriously... wtf sony...

Yeah, when they announced Final Fantasy 13 for SuckBox, I was like.. man, PS3 just lost the biggest thing to distinguish themselves from that pile of dog smeg. I didn't think it'd get this bad, but honestly, that stupid arrogant-ass price tag makes the system suffer. It's too expensive to buy and to develop for, and that's just a shitty combination. Here's to waiting for Sony's press conference at E3. They really need a good comeback after getting Final Fantasy stolen away and XBox's announcement of a price cut. The other games can fuck themselves, because they'll never be as pivotal in influencing this generation's system sales.

Sony has already lost 3 billion on the PS3 since they are putting it out at a loss.
The thing is I was thinking that the PS3 would be fine cus it can last 2 game cycles, but psychologically the buyer will prefer to buy 2 xbox's (360,720) and pay more over the lifetime as long as they enjoy what they got... and to have xbox 720 price tag be still slightly less than a ps3 will just ream them.
I fear a Sega scenario...
Seriously... if Microsoft and Nintendo are the only players in the game 5 years down the road all gaming will come to an end.

Well, all gaming is a little harsh. I'd believe it if it was Microsoft alone, though. I don't think Sony has it as bad as Sega yet. There's more hope for PS3 than Dreamcast, Saturn, or Sega CD. Those consoles' futures seemed far more dire. Let's also not forget that Nintendo survived the N64 generation against PS1, had a mediocre generation in Gamecube, and then came back and Howard Deaned everyone with Wii. Sony's been kicked in the balls, but I don't think they're done. They're just underwhelming right now because they lost exclusive star power in FF13.
Then again, I did a little more reading, and that seems to apply to the US release. It'll still be PS3 first in Japan, with the XBox version developed as the game is being translated. So as much of an impact it'll have from a marketing perspective here in the US, we're not the only market that matters. In that, I take some comfort.
Today at E3, Nintendo came out and announced GTA: Chinatown Wars. Now, I've become disenfranchised by GTA mainly because it's too open-ended, and I've reached an age where my real life is open ended enough, and I actually prefer to be slightly railroaded in my games (opposite of most people, period). However... when you mention a bunch of slanty-eyed kung fu dudes shooting each other on the Wii, I am quite interested for obvious reasons. Supposedly a custom engine, modern day setting. It'd be funny enough to see Miis running around and shooting each other, quite frankly.
Then they announced some ways for the DS to search for restaurants, check in baggage at the airport, and some other tasks. Seems interesting. Maybe Nintendo will be the one who can merge the cell phone with a gaming system. Perhaps, somewhere down the line, the company which created the gaming systems I grew up on will have successfully hosed Sega (done), smack Microsoft around (Wii > XBox), and demolishes Apple's iPhone. You can all thank Pikachu for pulling enough capital to do all of this. It's not a big stretch, though. Just go to any mass transit system in HK or Japan, and probably S. Korea, and look at all the DS's abound.
Finally, what has been, to me, the biggest news at E3 so far: WiiMotion Plus. It's some add-on to make the motion sensors more realistic. Yeah, it's kind of like that stupid memory expansion you absolutely had to buy for the N64, but the payoff should be good enough. It comes bundled with a game, too. This isn't the big part of the news. The great part is that a GLOVE... G-L-O-V-E comes with the bundle. We have a POWER GLOVE once again. As they said in that stupid 80's video game movie, "I love the Power Glove... it's so BAD!"

Well, I got Song Summoner for my iPod... I'll tell you guys how that pans out once I have a good chance to play around with it. And... in response to Dyuman's most recent post... and a conversation I had with one of my Berkeley friends... I went and re-bought all three seasons of Slayers, this time on DVD. Relatively cheap, too. each season was $30... that was, like a third of the price I paid the first time around, meaning that all three seasons cost me about the same that one season on VHS cost me back in the day. Funny how that works out. Dunno how interested you guys are in this, but we could go on a Slayers binge again in anticipation of grabbing whatever episodes we can of Slayers Revolution. I know Dyuman hasn't seen much Slayers yet, and I presume Jon still hasn't seen it since the last time I promised to sit him down and make him watch it. I'm sure Craig will want to gouge his eyes out by the end of it, but what the hell. ;D EDIT: Just an editorial from me while watching a little Slayers again. I won't deny that the english voice actors for the main Slayers cast is pretty irritating (Amelia being her own lesson in sheer annoyance), but I will say this - I actually liked a lot of the English voice actors for the villains. In the first Season, Rezzo's Japanese voice was kinda fruity, but the English voice actor makes him actually sound like an evil badass. Oh, and Zelgadis' english voice isn't bad, though it's not like it's the end-all of english dubbing. Okay, I'm done now.

I wouldn't be surprised if you recognize any of the voices in Slayers. Almost all the voice actors in that series were/are prolific.
You all should tie Craig to a chair, tape his eyelids open, make Erin McKay give him a lapdance, while watching Slayers. That'll be cruel.

www.drhorrible.com/... Holy wow. Joss Whedon + Neil Patrick Harris + Nathan Finnian + Musical = A surprising combination of win. Watch this before it gets taken down (July 20th). Or failing that... download it off of iTunes.

Star Trek MMO being produced out of Los Gatos. I'm actually trying to throw in for a job there in the hopes that it can work up to a design position for star trek. Game has potential, but it will most likely fail.

So something I learned about PS3s... Apparently this September instead of a typical price cut, Sony decided to discontinue the 40gb PS3s ($400) and replace it with the 80gb PS3 (currently $500) and drop the price of the 80gb down to $400.
Sony sucks.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champions_OnlineNew Hero based MMO coming out by the makers of City of Heroes... normally I wouldnt bear too much notice on this based on the fact that Chip and I both already tried it... but one thing caught my eye... "The game's rules will be based loosely on the HERO System ruleset.[3]" Now that is going to be terrible, or fantastically awesome....
