Great...Desk found another infinite, and apparently it works on 35/36 cast members, with moderate variations to the infinite itself. Hooray Captain America.
This discovery brought about an interesting notion...In MVC3 the more you use a move in a combo, the less hit stun it has therefore you shouldn't be able to loop/infinite. But does this apply to special moves as well, or just normals?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=832ME0tRZyY&NR=1Admittedly, I started playing Hulk after getting hit by noobs mashing H, S. Hulk is so effortless in his bnb's it's not even funny. This video shows the raw power of Hulk H... kinda hard to notice hitboxes mid fight, but this is shown quite clearly!

So I watched a few matches from the east coast where the commentators didn't really understand wtf was going on, and Magneto's flight combos were one of the things that confused the shit out of them. Admittedly, I was hella confused when I first saw this combo from Marn... and then I sat down and thought about the combo and this is what I replicated.
lmhs, j.h, adf, j.m, j.h, flight, j.h (the only hard link), adf, <j.h, adf>x4, j.s
I don't think I've ever used a combo where so much of it is done through buttons alone. I want to also see if I can replicate a similar setup for Storm too. She has damage potential, but I'm having trouble getting past the 550k mark without expending a ton of effort (like float cancel reps).

I have a genuine concern about breaking my fierce button on my stick now. So many combos are just [adf fierce]x(till opponent dies) and it's easier to air dash with medium + fierce, than jab + medium. I played for 5 minutes in training mode before my ring finger started to physically hurt from hitting fierce so many times. Maybe I just won't play Magneto/Storm...
So much shit in this game is just fierce fierce fierce air dash air dash air dash (or in Dante's cause instant adf fierce x nausea). It's actually difficult to practice because my finger starts to bother me from hitting the same button too much. Ridiculous.

Yeah, I know what you mean by breaking the button. I got a new stick and I thought about stopping myself from doing all the airdash combos just in case I'm smashing it too hard (nh).
I guess if you play Magneto, Amaterasu, and Chun, your fierce button will have a short lifespan like your characters.

For the record, I think level 3 Xfactor (in it's current form) needs to not be in the game. So sososososososo many retarded might-as-well-be-infinites that are far too easy to do are possible with level 3 xfactor. Not sure if you've seen the Akuma's light tatsu loop in Xfactor, it's literally any string into ground light tatsu, and you just tatsu over and over until they die (similar to how you could tatsu twice to start a juggle in CVS2 Akuma's CC, but this one does tons of damage with each tatsu). And they die before they can tech out of the tatsu. Just saw Felicia has one off what looks like her st.heavy...not sure what her moves are, but it was just a single normal that could link into itself, wtfever. Oh, and Wesker's gunshot loop (juggle), literally hit one ground gunshot with level 3 xfactor and you can repeat until your xfactor runs out.
Then there are characters that essentially 2 shot you with normals (hi Sentinel). And Wesker who really didn't need the extra damage to begin with, but can guarantee kill any character in a single (no effort) combo with his level 3 and any level xfactor.
And the reason I have serious concerns about breaking my fierce button is because I'm currently play 2 out of the 3 characters you listed...

If you haven't seen Shady K's Magneto loop in the corner, you should look it up. It's a corner only combo, but essentially instead of doing a flight mode spaz adf fierce till nausea, you hit [standing fierce x hypergrab, sj up/upback? ad df fierce]. Builds even more meter than flight mode combos and does essentially the same damage and looks absolutely ridiculous.
I'll edit with a link to a video later.

Yeah, I know of the Shady K loop. Haven't tried it yet though.
I laughed at the Wesker gun "infinite" with level 3 X Factor the first time... and I admit that's only because I didn't get hit by it. Wolverine has a similar one to Akuma with L Berserker Barrage.
It seems like any fat character with XFC lvl 3 will kill you in one combo without any appreciable effort.

I never realized that Doom's standing normals are dash cancellable. That is f'n amazing since he can air dash upwards for a mixup. Didn't realize this until I got rushed down by someone good online. Instantly got me into Training mode to learn some Doom stuff. This bastard does unreasonable amounts of damage for no meter, and unreasonable amounts of damage with meter, especially as a level 3 user. Sphere Flame scales well due to the number of hits, and tacking on Doom Time at the end of a long bnb combo is like, 900k each time. Crazy stuff.

Forgot to mention this the other day, but about Wesker's otg gun shot. You need to differentiate between otg gun after an air combo and after a ground string.
So if you were to do something really basic, st.lmh, s, j.mmhs, land wavedash otg gunshot. You can't link into cr.m without using an assist.
In the second case, if you were to do something like st.lmh, qcf+L, wavedash, otg gun. Here you could link a cr.m, s into air combo.
Random note (that I think you should know already), Wesker can't cancel otg gun into his own supers, but he can cancel it into team super.

Oh shit... ok. I knew about the team super one from watching the SoCal streams, but somehow I never differentiated the gunshot after air combo and ground string. Thanks.. that removes a lot of confusion for me because I kept trying it after an air combo, which obviously was frustrating for me when it was impossible

Looks like Daigo doing some trash talking over MvC3, saying something along the lines of, "Ok, I'm gonna play YOUR game now, when YOU have the head start. Get ready."
...and Tokido is playing this game too. Japanese execution in the world of Marvel is quite a scary thought, since they're just as malicious with their setups as top Americans ever have been. And Tokido plays Wolverine, Sentinel, and Phoenix. Sigh.

Yeah...saw that article on SRK. American MVC players jiji's self/each other. It's already known that Tokido has been playing a decent amount of MVC3, and since both Tokido and Daigo are in the Tokyo area, the Japan MVC3 community will also probably be decent there.
That being said... really all that's holding Japan back from becoming disgustingly good at MVC3 is the lack of solid competition, the execution really isn't that difficult, to be frank. If you could play the GG (jiji) series, then you really shouldn't have execution problems with MVC3, overall. If more people in Japan start picking up MVC3 seriously, it'll get really interesting.
If you haven't seen it yet, watch the Japanese She-hulk combo video on SRK. Some really solid damage on combos I haven't seen yet (non-xfactor), and frankly they (overall) look easier than some of the combos SoCal players have been trying.

The other day I watched a video where Tokido was explaining some of the decisions he made in a match vs. some Frenchie.. I think it was Alioune. Tbh, I am a little skeptical of his decision making because it did cost him matches. He loves getting really greedy with Wolverine openings and burning XFC early. Normally, I wouldn't think twice about this, but it also means he doesn't hand it off to Phoenix. It's a very strong tactic if he can kill two characters nice and early, though, but it comes off as a very greedy approach as well. Guess we'll see come Evo.
Any thoughts on DHC tricks lately? I admit it has a lot of appeal for ToD combos, but I don't feel like forcing myself to learn characters that don't suit me.

EDIT: Sentinel does pretty low damage without super assuming he doesn't do all that fancy flightmode shit. Which I hardly see people even going for.
****************************************************
I actually thought Tokido would be better than he is. His decision making is pretty poor, and more importantly his movement in game is really bad. It reminds me a lot of American Guilty Gear players that couldn't move around the screen the same way Japanese GG players could. Especially his Sentinel...not once did I see him fly he only jumps/double jumps and really doesn't exploit his command grab enough. Nor does he wave dash except at full screen after knockdowns. His Phoenix is really not good. Doesn't exploit her teleport to mix up nearly enough, he really needs to watch some Socal Phoenix, that shit is hella dirty.
And I actually never liked his team to begin with. Both Wolverine and Sentinel need meter to do decent damage, and Tokido is obsessed with killing characters rather than focusing on get meters for Phoenix...which is fine when you're playing against the French cause they're bad. But a lot of American players have begun to snap in rather than go for kills on non-phoenix characters. Frenchies drop basic combos, don't bother moving, spaz buttons and hope stuff hits. MVC3 cannot be played like Street Fighter 4.
Burning early XFC is fine...but I think Tokido does it wrong. Particularly with Phoenix...you only *need* XFC if you can't get a kill with DP (lawl) soon after she transforms. Once you get that first kill and the next character has to come in, DP has such a retarded advantage that XFC is just a luxury. This is also why I don't really care for putting in Phoenix once you get 5 meters, cause when your next character has to come in, you can lose Phoenix too easily by guessing wrong once. If you can get 2 characters in a combo early, then hell yes burn XFC to kill them. But lvl1 XFC for 1 character and you have to burn a meter of super to get a kill with a phoenix team? Uhh...no thanks.
Phoenix teams are at an advantage if they get to DP and the opposing team has less than 3 characters, what happens prior to DP is mostly irrelevant. Once you manage to hit once with DP, you can straight insty the rest of their team before they touch the ground so...build meter and save XFC is just better for Phoenix teams overall, though you could do without the XFC, but I think unless you're more or less guaranteed 2 character kills, it isn't really worth it.
I guess its worth mentioning that Jwong has been using a lot of early XFC to get kills with his Wolverine team...but he also doesn't run Phoenix and the times I've seen it he usually only burns XFC if he hits the point character and an assist.
DHC glitch...should be patched. You can do better damage with the DHC glitch than you can with a lvl3 super. And the set ups for it aren't particularly difficult on most characters. It actually makes Yipes team or any Magneto/Wesker team ridiculous because they can build enough meter off just about any hit to get enough meter to DHC glitch and kill a character. Then rinse/repeat.
As far as picking up characters just for the DHC glitch...eh. It's not really necessary I think? If you have decent DHC supers on your 1st/2nd characters you really shouldn't *need* the DHC glitch, similarly if you have a good level 3 super on your point character (ball squeeze...gravity squeeze). The DHC glitch really just lets you get more damage for less meter. So unless they're characters you're already interested in, or if your team lacks good damage output, I wouldn't bother.
The only characters I think are really worth picking up for the DHC glitch are Wesker/Dante because they build so much meter that the DHC combo doesn't cost you any meter cause you easily build 2+ meters in the combo. Sentinel is good for the DHC glitch too...but I dislike Sentinel outside of his assist. Deadpool looks really solid, but I really haven't seen too many people use him.
