Mech stuff.
The LAN's have been kind to us. We've all been getting better at rushing things together, and killing shit. Anyone who does not yet own a copy of this game needs one (Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries). This is as much of a necessity as Pokemon.
If only we had a Pikamech.

For those who still need a copy of this game, go to Ebay. Tons of copies up for a cheap price. Make sure you get Mech 4 MERCENARIES.

Yoga PPC! Dyuman has Mech 4 Mercenaries. Went with him and picked it up from Fry's. Whee. Now he just needs to learn the game.

The update to mechpack 3.02 goes install mechwarrior 4 mercenaries, duh. Patch to PR1, the thingy from Microsoft. Then you patch to 3.02.
Just to note, if your puter is running Windows Vista, after you install mechwarrior and you're on the 2 patching steps, you have to right click the patch .exe and use the "run as administrator" option, otherwise you won't patch the first PR1 patch correctly and the second patch to 3.02 will gives you fag errors.
I can explain why this is..but suffice to say, Vista sucks.
Oh, and you find both these patches by going to the mektek.net site and clicking on the mekpak banner. Both patches are linked from that site.

So regarding that video codec? problem we were having, I'm really just gonna start ranting about whats on my mind and what I tried to no avail so we can hopefully find some sort of solution. I was doing some reading online and I experimented a bit..I ruled out that my video card drivers are the problem (I rolled back to the previous driver which wasn't even capable of running Mech4). I'm pretty sure that directX 10 isn't fucking with it, otherwise there would be hella other people bitching..The only codec packs I installed are CCCP and divx, this could actually be the problem because I don't think I have CCCP on my desktop, which I still need to experiment on whether or not I can run Mech4 on my desktop.

That's so fucking weird. I have no idea why the hell Mech4 is crapping out like this all of a sudden. For both of us to have a "rare" problem like this is ghey. Not gay. GHEY.

Oh right..forgot to mention that one possible problem we might be having is incompatible versions of like video card drivers and what ever video codec pack we have installed.

Hey...just curious, but do you have CCCP codec pack installed Josh? Tried running MW4 again after the new Divx came out (still fails to work) so I was looking through the mektek forums again and some dude stickied a post about "How to fix the cannot find codec error in mp3 1 codec pack (tested myself)" and it there it mentions some people having issues with MW4 and CCCP...Wondering if you used it before I started fucking with my codecs on my puter. For reference, I only have Divx and CCCP installed on my craptop.
And are you running it in compatability mode? (like for windows 98 or something).
Oh and a random thought I was having..though I'm not sure how it really pans out. When I was testing whether or not MW4 worked..I went into an instant action game and froze (duh). But I could actually shoot my lasers once, before the game threw shit at me completely (would lock up outside of opening the menu). I heard the sound and in some cases could see a gimp shit squigily (sp?) line go across the screen. So it crossed my mind that maybe the game wasn't activating 3-d acceleration or something along those lines.

I have a file with like... 200+ codecs in it that I installed a while back. (Ace media codec pak). If you need it tell me.

Alright..well I resorted to what I didn't want to do, uninstalling codecs/reinstalling MW4. And....it seems to have worked. Yay, and fuck. Uninstalled Divx/CCCP then clean installed MW4 entered an instant action game and it worked (without reinstalling Divx/CCCP). So I guess the game is bitchy about something between those codecs, waiting for the 3.02a patch to finish downloading. I'll edit when I finish patching/reinstalling codecs.
EDIT: Yeah. It works fine now. Patched back to 3.02b, played fine. Reinstalled CCCP (didn't bother with Divx cause I can't think of anything off the top of my head that really needs it) and MW4 still runs fine after that. So...I guess Josh has to go reinstall hella shit. Lawl.
And don't forget to copy your custom mechs, its in the like VariantMTMP3 folder or something like that, otherwise you have to remake all your shit.

www.mechstorm.net/projectdocs/mercscoop/mercscoop.htmFound this awesome mod that allows you to play single player mercenary missions in co-op mode. Meaning we can go multiplayer through the single player missions. No longer will we have to live with inferior npc lance mates who do nothing but destroy perfectly good 80 ton mechs, I'm looking at you Hannibal. Now we are free to live with inferior human lance mates who we can at least yell at and ridicule when they fuck up. Sadly this isn't a perfect port of the single player campaign. All the missions were recreated using mission play maps and there were some inherent flaws and bugs that the team couldn't work around. Additionally they weren't able to translate all 60 some missions into maps just yet, but they did do most of the good ones first. Highlights include missions from Avalon, Talon, and most importantly Thark. Tried running the Overlord mission on Thark with Brian and we got owned. 2 mechs vs an army is not a good idea. But the missions are at least playable and from what I've seen so far it's a pretty good port of the game. All of that said, we need to lan this game again and soon. ;D

I assume Thark = Tharkad. Assaulting the capitol planet of the Lyrans with two mechs is nuts.
Oh man... not needing to work with Hannibal or Rufus = win. How does the mod interact with the mechpaks?

The mod has no problem with mekpaks that I can see. Me and Brian installed from the exe and ran fine w/o problems. Mechstorm also offers a HD pack that I haven't tried yet, so no clue about that one but seeing as how both mods were made by the same team they should interact w/o problems.
