Well, It's still just a skeletal frame of what I have planned, but here's my D&D wiki - Thaelian Rhapsody. worldofthaelia.pbwiki.com/password: slayer It has a link to this forum, as well as another forum that I made for the purposes of discussing my changes/plans/R&D for my d20 campaign setting. If you have amusing suggestions or goofy ideas, feel free to throw them into this thread, and I'll get around to reading them at some point. For more serious discussion and development, please use this forum (And please, keep the discussion on the new forum relatively serious): thaelia.proboards78.com/index.cgiBy the way, if you see any inconsistencies/spelling and grammar errors, or have any editorials to help improve wording or flavor of the game world, please let me know. I want this system to be the best it can be, both with regard to game mechanics and flavor text. I try to work on this wiki every day for at least half an hour on my lunch breaks, and occassionally at home when I'm not practicing GGXX:AC or logging into WoW. If you log into the wiki, I would recommend against e-mail notifications for changes, because I usually do little spot checks here and there on stuff that's already up, and thus you'll be flooded with e-mails if you accept notifications. So yeah. Take a look around.

Would like to mention right off the bat that I think that nailing down the mechanics in d20 system now, regardless of 4th ed. looming on the horizon, is important. Even if I decide to work under 4th ed. mechanics and they turn out to be vastly different than what 3rd ed. was, if I have my own game mechanics ironed out by then, the transition will be a lot easier to build on (even if it's still time-consuming.). On top of all that, however, I'm becoming more and more certain that 4th ed. is going to be "3rd ed with less confusion!" (read: 3rd ed. rehashed with additional online support) So.... short end of it is that if I get this done now, I should have less aggravation and annoyance later.

Good luck with the GMAT. Don't let my wiki distract you.

Heh... now I remember why the name Thracian sounded Ancient Greek to me.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThraceMight consider changing it now... but I really do like the name, so I'll probably keep it.

I also notice a distinct lack of commentary on the other forum. This is probably a function of there not being much to comment on... but I'd still like input on what's already up there, and (serious) suggestions on what I can add, or modify. If you guys are busy, that's cool, but try to at least take a look around really quick if you can, and give me something to think about (other than the snail's pace I'm taking on updating stuff).

Actually... what would probably be more constructive at this point in time is giving me your honest and relatively detailed input on what you liked and didn't like about 3rd edition (and 3.5, depending on how familiar you are with it.) Make a new thread in Thaelian R&D, or put stuff up here. Your choice.
EDIT: Yay quad posting!

I haven't been able to read through all of that - it's hard to sift through what I need to read and what I know is straightforward. Perhaps a way to highlight the changes would be good for the people already engrained in the 3rd Ed. ways. It's a bit of a lazy notion, but you'll probably get more efficient feedback.
The current method of organization feels like a whole new RP system book to read, based on familiar systems but with tweaks. I know that may be your ultimate goal, but a good synopsis of major changes and references to where the changes occur will expedite the entire process. If you're going to do modules with a similar process in the future, I'd definitely suggest this type of approach when you're in a R&D stage.
Other input regarding the system itself, I'll put into your board. This post is just a suggestion to help organize the entire R&D process, especially if you show it to people who can play RPG's, but aren't familiar with any of our games (and when I say games, I mean games played, not systems).

Well, I understand the sentiment in that request... but unfortunately until I have a good chunk of stuff up there.... where I update is gonna be sporadic. Creativity is hard to rush when it isn't already conditioned, but I'm working on that. Once work settles down again, I can try to at least do the major thing I've been meaning to do - transcribe the Feat system to my Talent system. that's probably my biggest priority right now. Once I have the vast majority of the talents set up, I can start building on magic, since both sets of abilities are meant to be balanced with one another. Also, once the Talent system is nailed down, I can make more concrete builds for the base classes. They need to be comparable in power to 3.5 classes, and the only gauge to that at the current moment is talents. Though perhaps I'm not looking at this from the way you intended. When you said, "a way to highlight changes," did you mean having a sort of "News" page where I put down what I update as I update it, or a synopsis of my intended changes? If it's the former... that'll be a pain to upkeep, but I think it's feasable. If it's the latter, I already have something regarding that in the form of my Introduction page (though I'll need to double check it to make sure it's up to date). If you have any other suggestions for making my forum more user-friendly, by all means let me know! In either case, I think this would be a good topic for the Quality Assurance area of my board. If you have further suggestions, putting them up there would be most helpful
