My current nova trooper set up looks like... -nova puse -light machine gun ~ 250 ammo -rpg ~ 20 rockets -heavy combat armor -pf generator/ssc -4 frag/wp grenades
Though..I don't like my nova trooper as much as I remember. Not sure If I'll switch back to heavy for GC stupidity or try a Demo trooper, but I made an infantry under a different alias cause I felt like power fisting people.
EDIT: As much as I hate to admit it, but Nova troopers really feel subpar now. RPG damage is a serious joke and you lose access to a lot of cool weapons when you switch off heavy weapons. And the nova pulse really won't kill anything on its own, you have to drain their energy first otherwise you'll just drain your energy for them and die.
Oh..and you'll probably be wondering why I use the LMG over the MG. Its because the LMG weighs like 2 or 4 KG less and does the same damage. 4 shot burst compared to 5, but it really doesn't make a huge difference. You really just don't have the spare weight to carry a MG unless you wanna sacrifice the RPG.

I totally agree with you there. I switched between Heavy Weapons and Infantry twice over the course of a day to get used to the WZA weapons again (didn't hit 5k xp yet, though). I'd just find people who splooged their nova pulse and shoot them like, once with a Gauss Cannon and get a free kill, or shoot them with a few AR shots, close in, and powerfist (no homo) them.
Nova Pulse is just too much of an all-in weapon. Sure, you can set up the kill, but if you overestimated your damage, you're sitting with no energy and are at risk of dying to stray shots. I don't think that's conducive to keeping a high bounty for yourself. Plus, I will probably KS with a GC.
Speaking of which, it seems GC's downgrades from CTF did not translate to WZA. When you have a lot of cover, the thing is a beast. When you're alone, it's less so.. unless you're fighting someone who strafes predictably. It's kind of fun to mix it up between LMG and GC to throw the other person off, though.
I had an Infantry with an AR, Powerfist, and some Rifle Grenades. That was all I carried... didn't have enough weight for CAW. I was wondering if I was just carrying too much ammo or something, because it's decently effective for street raping, but gets a bit boring after a while. Had Cara/PF/SSC for armor. Cara prolly weighted me down.

Nova pulse hella hurts, but it won't kill someone who is at full health/energy by itself. You'll need to either soften them up first or finish them off after. I really hate that weapon as it is one of the few things that can kill me on a consistent basis. As for the incinerator, meh it's ok. You really have to deplete their energy for it to be effective but it isn't a bad finisher.
As for the chat channel, I think I figured out what was wrong. I changed the color of my channel and it looks like that automatically overloads the channel creating a new channel. So if I had mine set as #yesfive and someone else joins it as yesfive, we're probably on different channels. If anyone sees me on PM me and we'll see if we can get a proper channel set up. As for teams, we're lacking hella people and we're gonna get run over if it's just the 5 of us (me, brian, chip, craig, josh). I don't mind trying but 5 vs 10/12 doesn't sound that appealing. Then again I suppose that it's better than the 1 vs 10 that I usually play.
Edit: Yay Josh is playing, that makes us five people strong. Edit2: Yes we were overloading our chat channels, just tested with brian. So we all have to agree to a certain chat color. Right now I'm on default yesfive.

Craig was commenting on RPG being Asstastic damage. Though I had the bad experience of running into a pair of RPG users and getting juggled by rockets, that would only serve to accentuate how low damage they are, that I got hit by, like, four or five of the damn things before I died. I'm inclined to go with Buhwhyen's judgement on Nova Pulse... I've yet to be killed by it from full health, but then again that may just be beacuse I haven't had some yoink try to run up to me and immediately use it. I Think he would be happier with the incinerator, which I think he can get as a Demo Trooper, but I'll have to check when I get home.
What are your aliases, Josh? Maybe I did see you, and I thought you were Buhwhyen, or something.

All my infantry alias are force breaks/Guilty Gear related moves: FafnirIsGood/Danzai for WZA.
EDIT: My infantry actually doesn't use an assault rifle. Its just CAW, powerfist, grenades, armor.

Current Infantryman setup is: Assault Rifle + Rifle Grenades 400 Rifle Ammo Frag Grenades Powerfist Supercharger Carapace PF Generator Musch easier to carry a boatload of ammo, and grab a flightpack on the battlefield than carry the kit yourself. ;D While a lot of my kills were vulches, I really got to wreck people's shit more than in recent times. Pretty sure Jon was the MVP with his healing, but regardless that went a lot better with the five of us on the same team. What became really fun was when it was Jon and I and I would play meat shield for him. Even some of the filler mooks weren't so bad, either, but I tended to notice that we were a much better cohesive unit. We must do this more often and get MORE money and MORE exp! Now I just need to work on not getting too gung ho and seperating from the group when there's runners. I ate shit basically every time I ran ahead of everyone. Also, Craig seems happy with the MG, much to my surprise, but he's still considering jumping around with other weapons. Oh well. Long as he's happy with experimentation. He was considering going with Autocannon, but that was on the premise that it wasn't move-or-fire, so when I mentioned that to him, he became less interested. Thanks to last night, he's also outfitted with Assault armor SSC and PF, so he's actually durable now. Well, with all that out of the way, would people be interested in an Infantry LAN again this weekend? Talking to people in real-time would make us even more awesome. Edit: By the way, I thought it was hilarous that we were Omega Team last night. ;D

Just perusing this board before I go to bed.. hope the LAN was good.
I'm GlandViper. You should know because I use the move so much. My other character is Kayess, which is Inf right now with CAW and shitty armor. Easy money, though.
Sciops has been fun in groups.. it's harder to solo because you're liable to get vulched, but once I stopped acting like I was an Infantry and stopped using Stealth Cara, I got used to hanging back just enough to last much, much longer. My current build:
Battle Rifle Stunner Gauss Rifle Power Fist Heavy Armor/SSC/PF EMP/Frag 'nades
I am considering using Dual Combat Revolvers into Powerfist combo for the Stunner kill, since Battle Rifle is slower. It has good suppresive fire, though, given its pace, and hella accurate, but not as fast damaging as Revolvers. I don't wanna give up Gauss Rifle yet, because it's a faster long range weapon with some finishing potential in a single shot... so I have to play around with the possibilities. I haven't filled up my weight yet, and don't want to use Electron Beamer again because it's a drain on energy that I'd rather save for a safer Powerfist finisher or a few Gauss shots... not to mention Stunner takes up energy.
Stunner doesn't guarantee my kills, though, but usually the person I stunned gets raped to bits, which is good for xp still, just less so for kill ratios, which I care nothing for.
AC is not bad. You just have to pump out a lot of shots in directions they're likely to strafe in. Successive AC shots are incredibly painful. I still prefer Gauss, though, because it's lamer, and hence, funnier. But there's no real reason to MG/AC I think, because concentrating on hitting with MG is better in the long run, given you can strafe a lot more. In groups, this increases your survivability.
Honestly, the only thing (besides GC laming) I miss about the Heavy Weapons class and its various branches are laying down psychic demo packs to fuck Infs up. However, it's a double KO if they trade the full Pulsar shots with you. I did a really cool one where I ran from a bunker, and was gonna attach, but noticed that I was jammed by a guy from the bunker. I stopped moving for one sec, laid a pack down, and traded kills with him. It was quite satisfying to psychic him like that... but really, it's not enough to make me stay with the class. Even with GC laming, it eats your energy and you need cover to do it effectively. If I was an infiltrator, I'd have such a field day waiting for GC'ers to pump a few shots into a crowd before I sneak in with a Pulsar for free. Just too vulnerable. Same goes for Nova Pulsers. In the end, you have some ups by having a good group to cover you so you can stand and lame people a lot, and a lot of downs when your group is meh.
If I have to reduce myself down to using my LMG a lot, I'd rather go Inf, CAW, and Powerfist/H2H people for hilarity. More patience than scoring a few MG shots before going Nova, but less commitment for the kill, and Cara keeps my bounty higher.

The instruction at "0x77f581bd" referenced memory at "0x007b8086". The memory could not be "written". Click ok to terminate the program.
Will try to play with registry and try to do a clean install (still goin to the old folder automatically on install as brian mentioned yesterday, something is being left over).

uh....
So I installed infantry on my computer downstairs and it works... but...
I got a pop up from Norton just as I was installing that it was trying to install a "Default Block Rat Trojan Horse"
I dunno if its a terrible thing or just spyware from sony... might want to double check on your comps.

Ok... wtf?!?!
I got the program to run, enter war zone alpha, play around with the options and pop it into windowed mode. The program dies on me. I restart it and get the same freaking error again only with different numbers:
The instruction at "077f58106" referenced memory at "0x0020427f". The memory could not be "written".
Click on ok to terminate the program.
um... help?

When going to window mode you have to do it at the select screen where you enter your alias and select which zone you want to play in otherwise it will crash the program if you try to do it in game. As for your other install problem, I did some checking and it might have something to do with your DEP (Data Execution Prevention) settings. I'm not entirely sure how to fix this either nor am I sure if you want to disable it as it is a fairly nice security option. Um, still trying to figure out what the problem is, but I doubt that you will fix it by uninstalling/reinstalling the program. Good to hear that you got it running on one of your computers though. Edit: If you seriously want to fix this problem I suggest you post about it on a knowledgeable forum and get a tech expert to help you. I think this is a little beyond any of our experience. This looks like a decent place to try www.geekstogo.com/forum/forums.html as it is where I found this www.geekstogo.com/forum/memory-could-not-written-t4911.html which while similar to your problem, is not your problem.

Tried to follow their instructions, but just couldnt find what they were doing (and waaay over my head). I did a system restore so considering retrying it to C drive with a clean install of both launcher and infantry (some stated that, that helped). If not, sadly looks like no dice.

Jignesh just paid me for accounting for him... 400 bucks... he still owes me 600 more. I don't really wanna get a laptop just to have the same issue come up and be stuck :-p Though I'm prolly getting one anyways.
Found a website that makes custom laptops with desktop components (desktop graphics card being the biggest thing). So we'll see.
