Huh... the older beta shots seemed stupid, but what they showed at GDC seemed pretty good:

So basically... synopsis of features:
No autocombat. Basically you hit 1-3 (later on 1-5) and swing in a certain direction (<- ^ -> sort of thing). Doing them in a particular order does a combo. This is supplemented with your actual special moves.
Dodging - you can actually hop away from someone as they are about to do a combo strike (so reactions and junk matters).
Shielding - This one I found kinda nifty. So you have shield bars around you that show where your focus is on incoming attacks. More "AC" is applied to those places you are focused on. So bascially this works with the no auto combat part. You can change the focus on the fly midfight so if an enemy is constantly hitting your left (caster to your left lets say) you can put your focus on that side to protect yourself, but then causing you to take more hits on the front and right. Mobs have this as well and shift it too so pve is very moving around oriented if you are maxing.
All melee attacks are pb cone with combos being aoe. So if you swing a big ass two handed sword... its gonna rip into a couple guys for more damage than a 1 hander, not just one infront of you.
Healing is more pb, pbaoe, cone, ect so healers actually have to move around rather than select target in gui and mash. I think offensive magic is similar as well, but unsure.
Lot of skills that all classes can do, ie: stealth, just that they can't do it as well as others.
DAOC style pvp with create able cities in both pvp safe zones (guild halls and junk), and pvp zone (keeps). Having keep gives your guild a buff.
Rated M game from the get go. At random times (or maybe based on stats, not really sure exactly) your character does a "fatality" where your last strike is... mean... There was one video of a rogue stabbing a guy through his neck, grabbing the sharp end of his blade from the other side of said neck, and tearing it all the way through. This also includes PG-13 nudity. For example, you start on a slave ship during the character creation, if you're a male you are rowing the ship - if female, you're tied up in the back room basically being someones bitch.
Main questline has full on cutscenes to give a feel that what you do actually matters.
Mounted combat - Horse, Rhino, Mammoth. Horse = nimble sports car, Rhino = big truck, Mammoth = Tank. Rhino and Mammoth can be used for siege.
All of this was present and incorporated into the game mechanics at GDC, so less "we're gonna do this" and more "we have done this and here is what it looks like"
----
Now I know I tend to get hyped up pretty quickly about stuff, and everyones quit MMO's, but this doesnt seem too bad. Have a look at the videos from GDC.
Bit unsure on the system requirements. They say its a vista game, but that it also works on directx9 scaled down.
