Starting this up early, whilst I wait for work to be handed to me. Where are we planning on meeting up? Anyone have dinner plans for that evening yet?
I'm pretty sure I'll be there after work (7:30 or so). I'm working OT tonight (Monday), so tomorrow shouldn't have it as well.
Let's get stuff nailed down so we don't spend even a half-hour trying to figure out what we're eating for dinner.
My first suggestion would be pizza or KFC, but both are fairly greasy and would not be healthy for us or our joysticks. but unless anyone has a better idea, this is what we're going with.
Discuss.

Well..if we don't have a place, I can host at my house. My grandparents are leaving Tuesday morning, so my place is usable again.
As far as dinner goes..I dunno, we could always cook something simple like spaghetti or something the like so we don't have to go out and spend 1-1.5 hours eating, if this sounds like a good idea maybe we could all just pitch in money and I can go buy stuff to make it between classes tomorrow or something. And while we're rotating playing, whoever isn't playing is cook bitch or something. Otherwise suggestions for places to go are good.
Potentially we could get 2 games running at my house, but the problem still remains we'd have to use the X-Arcade and someone would need to bring their PS2, both of which might be okay for this week (unless the ps controller I ordered comes tomorrow and I have enough time to fix up my shelf stick).

I can't hold it at my house this week. They're supposedly tearing up the entire floor on my level of the house.... to do what, I have no clue. I have no idea how long this might take, but it's going to be at least a week, which means I might not be able to have it here next week either.
I'm one hundred percent down with spaghetti. I'll chip in whatever you need. I love seein' my friends cook. I've developed a liking of cooking lately as well, and I don't mind helping with whatever needs help. Just let me know.
I'll try to fix up my old stick at some point, but I've been relatively busy lately. Look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow.

Alright..Jam session is at my place tonight. Theres only 2 things left to decide, what to eat and if we wanna try 2 games simo.
Post yes or no to spaghetti or some other easy pasta/food to make sometime before 5:30 and I can buy stuff on the way back from class. Otherwise suggest places to go eat.
If you want to try running 2 games, we'll probably have to use the x-arcade or see if Jon's stick still works (and someone will need to bring their ps2/ggxxac). And we don't need the projector, though we could try setting it up if you want, as we could drag the TV from my room to the living room without too much trouble.

Spaghetti is good, and maybe some pre-packaged salad on the side or something makes for a simple enough meal. Let me know if there's anything I can chip in for.

EDIT: Blargh... in my work's usual fashion, OT has been offered after I said I would be making it to our gaming session on time. I declined last time, but I would like to pad my earnings a wee bit more... so I'm not gonna pass up on it this time. I'll try to be done early enough to get a little game time in... but don't wait up for me. My comments below still stand, and if I'm early enough, I'll still grab some snacks. Hope you guys have a good session in my absence if I end up not making it.
1 - I'm cool with spaghetti. It forces us to use utensils. 2 - Salad would be cool too, so Josh can bring ingredients for that. 3 - I'll have to stop at home to grab the X-Arcade, so I'll be a little later, like 7:40 or so. 4 - Josh can toss that salad for us. Fag. 5 - I'll stop off at Safeway and grab snacks, since Jon and Buhwhyen aren't being guests this time around, and won't be bringing their customary chips. 6 - Al... bring, like, beer. Lost of beer. Unless you want to do the spaghetti, and we'll raid the Ng's fridge. 7 - BUCK FUTTER!
P.S. - I rock. 4 hours OT + 8 hour day = 12 hour day. Ow.

Now that we have the dinner/arrival plans in mind, on to the gameplay. I'm posting a quick thing on gameplay ahead of the session because I need some peer review on Eddie. I hate how I play him like, 85% of the time, so I need your guys' help to keep an eye out on a few things I want to change, hopefully starting tonight. Let me know what your feedback is after the playing session. Most of this is pretty subjective, but I need some new perspective right now. Keep in mind that although these can be answered with yes/no, I'd like some further detailed criticism.
1. Did I vary my pressure strings more than before? 2. Did I eat too many counter hits? 3. Is my Eddie moving clumsily? 4. Did I hit you with enough unblockables to make you want to give Eddie new eyes just so you can blind the faggot again? (By the way, if you see any situations that seem like an unblockable should happen, but I neglected it, point it out. Even if you might be mistaken, at least question me for it and make me justify my every move with Eddie so I can think about what I'm doing.)
And if I play Faust...
1. Did I make good use of 5K when the situation arose? 2. DID I FUCKING USE THAT MOTHERFUCKING PIECE OF SHIT FORCE BREAK PIMP SLAP HAND OF ALMOST FREE DAMAGE!?!?!?!?!??!?!?

Since we're posting stuff we're working on, Here's some stuff I would like to try to get going. If I manage to show up, try to help me watch out for this stuff:
1 - Throw after connecting with 6HS 2 - Consistently FRC Throw. 3 - more discretion (read: don't eat so many wake-up hits) on pressure after successful sweeps. 4 - More FB Planet mind games (both aerial and Charged SE cancels). 5 - completing dust combos consistently. (homing jump j.S j.S j.S j.c. j.P j.S j.P j.S. 623HS+HS in particular) 6 - OMFG BLOCK DAMMIT. (and be patient about counter-attacking). 7 - learn distances and appropriate times to Air throw.
I can practice the motions and set ups all I like for most of these, but I really need actual battles to learn the when-and-how of most of the stuff above.

So... feedback for last session... again, these are just my observations. I hope they're helpful, though I may not be quite familiar enough with the gameplay to give you accurate assessment of the games. Sorry that I'm not saying all that much. I'm gonna try and give you guys feedback (and criticize myself) every session, and hopefully getting into this habit will also help me remain aware of situations and set-ups in the game itself. I recommend you guys do the same.
Alvin Pro - May just be my scrubbiness, but it looks like you're mixing it up a lot better than before. Good job punishing my stun edges with grand vipers. Con -Still using wake-up uppercut too often. Even I'm starting to catch it every so often. Lotta bandit revolvers.
Brian Pro - You're really good at baiting us into eating man bunkers and general Slayer damage. Your mix-ups hurt. A lot. Con - I suppose it's not as big an issue if you're gonna go all out with Slayer, but your combo execution was blargh. Even that aggravating fake stomp > command Throw > FB Man Bunker.
Jon Pro - You're really watching out for knockdowns a hell of a lot better than when you started with A.B.A. (that, or I'm throwing out sweep too much). I only recall one time where you ate a knockdown and it knocked you out of psycho mode. You take hella advantage of that damn attack throw-key activation. Good job varying when you slid through my (and everyone else's) attacks. Kept me guessing on if I could hit you as you were coming through. Con - Well, this goes without saying for all of us, but in particular, it's looking like A.B.A.'s execution is essential. I might be reading this wrong, but it looked like if you screwed a combo with A.B.A., you ate some form of counter or lost your pressure on your opponent.
Josh Pro - Your pressure is generally really good. Might be my scrubbiness at work again, but I saw very few openings to break out of most of your pressure strings, unless you really pushed yourself away from me. Con - Nail down your drill positions. I would have eaten even more drills if you didn't accidentally hit HS drill instead of S drill (course, I haven't looked at Eddie's current drill set-up... Might be different than in XX, which is what I'm going on).
Me Pro - starting to get fairly consistent on getting my dust combos off (save the ending), throwing more (though not as consistent with the FRC as the 11/06 session). Con - too much Charged stun edge. My fingers keep drifting to Dust when I really want Hard Slash. It's a weird habit I really need to drag into the street and shoot. Still too eager in trying to break out of pressure. On that note, need to stop waking up mashing 2P. gonna eat lots more damage if I'm that predictable. Need to vary up my gatling combos, and work with the openers Ky has. He has a lot more to work with than I've been using, and if I don't use it, I'm never going to get into the fray because I'll just get hit out of my run-in the same way each time.
And that's all the time I have. Break's over. Back to work. Discuss.

Even if you might be mistaken, at least question me for it and make me justify my every move with Eddie so I can think about what I'm doing.) And if I play Faust... 1. Did I make good use of 5K when the situation arose? 2. DID I FUCKING USE THAT MOTHERFUCKING PIECE OF SHIT FORCE BREAK PIMP SLAP HAND OF ALMOST FREE DAMAGE!?!?!?!?!??!?!? 1. Your pressure has actually become really predictable to me. You still have the habit of starting with a 5K at the beginning of your little eddie pressure strings. About 85-90% of the time the fist hit is low and you more often mix up to try and bait the high guard. Granted, I did eat a lot of overhead 6K, but really? I blocked more pressure strings than I got hit with overall, I think. (outside of running into drills for no reason) 2. Not as many as I did =p 3. Your Eddie movement is getting better, but its still seems like you're struggling to keep yourself at an ideal distance/close that distance when you see an opening. 4. I'm tired of unblockables. I hate unblockables. But I also don't know all of his unblockables, though one I notice you missing a lot is puddle/j.s, though that one has more to do with trouble setting the puddle where you want to. Oh..and practice that down down drill motion, there were a lot of random dropped pressure strings/counter hits cause you fucked up drills. For Faust.. 1. I have no clue when you're supposed to use 5K now, though I didn't see it as a huge threat when I played against him. I was always more concerned with back dashing into either 5S or 5HS? I forget which move it was, but I got baited into hella random hits off of back dashes that really just aren't safe against Faust. 2. I can't speak for everyone, but personally I think I blocked way more pimp slap force breaks than I got hit with. Honestly, I really attribute it more to the fact that I know your play style more than you throwing it out predictably/forgetting to use it or something the like. And...I get hit with that motherfucking obvious slow starting overhead way too much, even when I block the hit before it high. I really need to work on this. But Chip's observation is pretty spot on. My execution with Slayer really is just on auto pilot, I rarely try to hit confirm stuff(bad bad bad). More so, I look for places where I think things will hit and/or react to your moves with dandy step fagbunker. I dropped a lot of random combos mostly because I did the wrong launchers into them. Mostly because I'm not used to his random launchers I don't react with the right button, often I just throw out 5K cause its universally good and stuff, but most of the time its difficult to do a full air combo off of a 5K launcher. And honestly, I don't know most of his combos, I kinda just make stuff up on the fly and try to make his generic air combos work on everyone. My execution sucks.

Brian - Yeah, you're right. We've also played each other enough where you know when I'm itching to do something stupid. Which is often. Chip - My Eddie pressure can be airtight for a long time just by using simple things. Once you get used to seeing it, I will probably land no damage whatsoever unless I really mix my shit up. My drill positions are sometimes telegraphed, slow, or just plain messed up in terms of execution. In general - I dunno why I had particular trouble that night on doing drills, so it's back to the drawing board on that one. Sometimes it's hard to hit the drill button while I'm holding down other Eddie attacks and having the extra thing to think about is enough to throw me off. Also, I have to take extra care to remember to hold down the HS button after far drill or else I'll change Eddie into a puddle prematurely. I have a long way to go with execution in terms of mini-Eddie control. As for Faust, I kept whiffing pokes on backdashes all the time. I'm used to punishing those backdashes with faster pokes rather than missing them altogether now, so I have to adjust my own positioning a bit. Feedback for othersBrian - Not much I guess... just go for more Slayer combos. You at least hit some bigger combos. Then again, the short combos already do enough, but link more often. There's little reason not to link your 2K into 2D if you don't feel like you want to go for 2K into 2HS. Your general oki is good with most characters, so at least take your knockdowns where they come. I'll have better feedback once I find a better way to deal with dandy step with Eddie. Pre-emptive drills and 2S aren't safe enough. Uhh... and practice supers? I shouldn't encourage this. Alvin - We had a talk after the play session, so you know my thoughts on this. Just keep with what you're doing and just diversify your openings. Your game overall is improving. Chip - Yours is as well. Good shit on the FRC throws as usual.. just learn the timing for the followup after. You're hitting the c.s too early. Do a short dash up to the person after FRC throw and then hit the c.s. You'll adjust them to a better height to hit 2 or 5hs. The dust combos are coming along well. Your damage output is increasing because of all these improvements. 2P is good, but yeah, there are times when even that will not get you out of trouble. Block more for now, watch the offense a little bit more, and you'll know when you can afford to mash it. Put more concentration into SMARTLY getting the fuck out. No one learns this overnight. Remember to CANCEL into CSE. You input the CSE motion after your sweep as if you are comboing into it. If you wait for the sweep animation to end, your opponent can and probably will escape. If you mess up the CSE motion for whatever odd reason, then give up the fat fireball and just use your normals to pressure. You have plenty of options to work with in that arena. The exception to this rule is with uppercut characters. If you mess up the CSE in those matchups, you will have to use good judgment on that wakeup game. As to the points you want to improve on, knowing how to abuse FB with Ky requires good knowledge of frame data. I suggest further research into that area so you can hatch your setups from there. Do not bother with throw after 6HS. If you're gonna burn 25% tension anyway, run in with c.s, 2d, FB, and some air combo afterwards to fuck them for more damage. This air combo should end with a Lightning Javelin. Regarding air throws: Don't bother right now. I won't go into details about what I think about air throwing because that's a whole other post to talk about, but it's a little more deliberate than just distancing. Air throws are 90% set up, or a part of a setup. (I hope phrased that so people can parse that sentence correctly). Jon - IMO, combo into keystab instead of rekka during normal mode. I know it seems like they get out of range, but I honestly don't think it's the case. I saw a lot of instances where you had that opportunity for sure and you just rekka'd instead of going for stab. Pretty good use of overheads, though, man. Just remember to RC them when you can and do a big combo after. Try some IAD combos after your 2hs as well. They're motherfucking fun. And you need to be less mature about your Danzais. Other than that, bloodpack for Moroha more. You hit enough openings now where you can justify using keystab combos to go back to normal mode. Me - I need to get IAD's with Eddie right. I need to practice my pressure strings more so I won't rely on the same old shit, especially when I have little Eddie out and I need to drill. I know my shit is predictable, and I'm gonna work on changing that. I need to make better use of little Eddie's uppercut, because this is an aspect of my Eddie game I am very displeased with. I need to practice FRC drills again. I also should be less reactionary and more deliberate with my anti-air tactics now. Please be patient with me while I get this shit right. Kthx.
