Josh Hijack: Turning this into a full on thread.
Guild Wars Lan on 6/20 at 2pm at Craig and Chip's place.
Josh, Chip, and myself have already picked it up and started playing a bit last night.
We are specifically playing Guild Wars: Nightfall. You don't have to buy the trilogy, the 3 of us did, but only would need Nightfall to play as a group.
Steam currently has the trilogy on sale for 39.99, individual games for 29.99
Fry's does not carry single copies anymore (if they do it's 29.99), Trilogy there is 49.99
Play whatever you want, henchmen system allows us to fill holes with healers or whatever we need.
Full group early on is 4 man, but it opens up to 8 around level 10. We'd probably split ourselves into sub groups and stagger a bit to progress faster.
Please give heads up if you're interested.

I want to play an interrupt Mesmer, but a lot of the necessary skills are in Factions. Is there a way to make a Factions pvp character, thus "unlocking" the skills everywhere, or do I have to play that campaign?

Can't do straight pvp, still have to go into the role play to get anything outside of the basic skills.

Anyone interested in playing this game with us should buy the trilogy pack. 5 of us already have it so if you buy only one individual game you may not be able to play with us all the time.

Considering rerolling as monk/something for healing.

Random fyi. I blew up my warrior in nightfall and remade it in faction. Leveled a ranger to half way through level 7 in nightfall w/ jon. Probably just gonna make all my characters in faction from now on, nightfall is mostly inferior.

Because we're going to eventually make one. Anyone have any suggestions for a serious guild name?

Don't really have a preference, can go with Arcadian Shadows or something. Went Monk/Mesmer.
Roughly level 12 now, Josh and I got a level 20 hero golem from our trilogy box bonus.

Assassin is 20, Mesmer is 20, Dervish is next. Lemme know when people are ready to run out and capture shit with signets.

20 warrior, 20 assassin, necro will be 20 soon. We should actually look into going to prophecies to capture stuff. Lots of good pve shit, but not sure how easy it'll be to get it (long ass runs between zones and you don't start in a high level area).
EDIT: necro is 20.

I lied. Dervish was not next. Necro went from 1 to 20 in a day with Jon's Monk in Factions.
Everyone push to 20. Let me know if you want help. I should be able to get Mantra of Recovery within the next few days for my Mesmer and then my personal needs are more or less met in the short run. There will be tons of places to get to in order to get everyone's Elite skills.
And do not go buying skills you do not need in the immediate future. Skills get cumulatively expensive for each one you buy, maxing out at 1 plat per skill. Save that shit for your capture signets so you're only paying 100-300 gp for your Elite skill.
EDIT - The reason I am imploring everyone to get their ass to 20 (or Mars) is that the game really begins at 20. There's tons of stuff to run, farm, and loot. Some of these bits are very preferable with human party members rather than henchmen.

This really only applies to Jon and Josh atm, but I chose Luxon (factions quests) over Kurzick. From what I can tell, there's almost no difference which side you pick (other than the obvious difference in quests). Luxon can buy jadite, Kurzick can buy amber. The faction skills are functionally the same (but with different icons - omg). Supposedly the escort quest for Kurzick is easier than the Luxon one, but they discovered an exploit for the Luxon quest (takes hella longer, but makes it easier).
Typically everyone in a guild should to go to the same faction (Luxon or Kurzick), but if for whatever reason you all want to go Kurzick I just won't be joining in.
