Yea. The biggest case I figure is that you can pull people out of closets now cus you can't instant knock off when they pull. Get about 5-10 feet out before team mates can mellee.

So after playing some more D2...I can say that 1.12 is way different than the 1.10 and prior that we all played. For example, Bowazons are actually pretty bad now. Keep in mind I played one up through act 1 hell and barely made it with pimped gear (Buriza, dual leech, and ~+6 all skills). Not only was my damage subpar, but my accuracy was so atrocious that I ended up maxing the attack rating talent and then I had around 85% chance to hit most mobs (I also put at least 2 points into dex every level). Multi shot with a Buriza at level 69 barely lands for 1500 top end, guided arrow ~1800-1900.
Comparatively I built a Zeal Din and he tore through everything with ease. Also having pimped gear, but I was able to kill Diablo in hell using NO potions and just constant zealing through his attacks. Though amp damage + conviction still = death. My zeal damage floats around 2.5k top end with a 1 hander at level 73. The truly amazing thing about dins now is that they can kill anything. Previously you couldn't touch physical immune mobs, but now holy freeze adds ~1200-1400 cold damage per hit (lol) and slows mobs by 55% in a huge aoe.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DarkfallNew euro MMO supposedly coming out sometime next month. Yes I know that none of us really have time for a MMO anymore, but if we did this might have been something that we would find amusing for a short amount of time. Best described as an updated Ultima Online so it shares many of the features of UO such as making the game skill based instead of gear based. Darkfall is a fantasy based MMO that sports some interesting features such as friendly fire, player collision, the ability to build your own city, ship and mounted combat, and most importantly unrestricted full loot pvp. Of course the same things we might find interesting about this game would eventually turn us off to it since it encourages/forces you to interact with other players and form clans/alliances. Still, it looks like an interesting game that we will probably never play.

I actually have taken a look at darkfall a bit.
If people want to give it a try for a month that comes free with the game I'd be willing to give it a whirl.
Don't have much free time anymore, but eh - I'm not totally against trying it out. I do honestly believe the game will fail though.

I dunno how many of you guys were over at my house much when my uncle and aunt stayed with us for a time (this was like, close to 9 years ago). Anyway, at that time, my uncle brought over his PSOne and a game called Winning Eleven. It's a soccer game, and a pretty damned good one. Wasn't sure if any of you guys had a chance to play it.
I have always wanted to import the PS3 version of it, since I've never seen Wininng Eleven over here. But I didn't wanna deal with tons of Japanese for a non-fighting game. However, while speaking with my uncle the other night (and exchanging PS3 handles with him), he told me the game is out as Pro Evolution Soccer here. God dammit I wish I had known that's what the series was called over here. Why can't we just put up with Japanese names? It's because of this nonsense that we have to resort to names like Claw, Dictator, and Boxer.
Umm, sorry for the tangent. I put this under random gaming because while I usually am not a fan of sports games, this series is incredibly solid and isn't like Madden in all its American mediocre glory. And I like real football over our football. So I'm gonna hunt this game down and pray it's got some good multiplayer. I don't think it'll be a game we'll all get (though we'll see), but it'll be a good reason for people to bring some d-pads over.

So the guy that sits next to me in two of my classes works for Nvidia and has been working on the 3d project they have been doing and been telling me some info
So it seems that it takes the 3d designed objects native to the games, and pops them out just a bit in relation to other things. It's not like Disney Movies where it's totally out in your face, but just 3d within the screen.
He tried it with Left 4 Dead and said it was fairly crazy, he wasn't too familiar with the game so couldnt tell me about Tanks throwing rocks and junk.
The other thing he did was mention RTS's and that the units all pop out of the ground in 3d and there is a much better distinction from the HUD and the units.
Sadly the technology requires a 120 hertz monitor to work.
More interesting that it just takes the signal from games that use 3d models and converts them into 3d images with some minor hardware tweaks - so you don't need games specificly designed for it.
Looks like the push for 3d might be here to stay in gaming...

That's how 3-D works in the first place, with the drawn objects displaced slightly on the screen, but realigned when you see them. I'd imagine with RTS's, that'd actually be the easiest to do because you can have the software output overlapped images from different angles so the eyes can resolve them as 3-D. This is not 100% new as a concept. Even holograms aren't either. There was a game in the arcades a long time ago that used a holographic projection. It just sucked, unfortunately. This push for 3D has always existed for years and years. We're just at a point where we're close to making it commercially viable. However, I am going to remain unmoved until we get products.
I must say, though, that Nvidia is working on this is still encouraging because at least real money if finally being thrown behind this. Yet with all the blue ball claims of the past, it's hard to not be a skeptic.

Played 2 games of the Warhammer 40k: dawn of war 2...The intro was pretty neat. But that's about it. The game doesn't run smoothly, for starters. Units are mentally retarded, I suppose its cool if you like watching the game more than playing it. There is no "move" command, all move commands are innately move-attack commands. Income is slow (for simplicity's sake, I'll compare the money to minerals and gas. Your minerals and gas slowly tick up naturally. There's 2 types of resource nodes on the map, one increases mineral gain, the other gas gain. Its similar to mana regen, its always happening passively, getting mp5 gear gets you more) and never ramps significantly. Units are expensive and build in groups that can't be separated (You also only have 1 building to build from, no workers only attacking units. You can upgrade your building twice, similar to command centers in Warcraft 3). Heroes don't make a huge difference, mechanical units totally rape regular infantry. Most units are upgradeable (after being built, you can "upgrade" them to better versions) The game is so far separated from most RTS games I've played. This game seems like it emphases small group (like 1-2 unit groups) moving all over the map, opposed to grouping your army together because you need to gain "control" of resource towers to increase your income and or to win the game (depends on game type). There's 2 game types: Annihilation and point control? I forget the name of it, but basically you get the equivalent of 2000 hp, and there's ~3 nodes on the map that when you gain control of them, the other player's hp slowly ticks down. Naturally the more nodes you have the faster their hp goes down (there is no way to get more hp).
All in all. Its like a huge fuckfest with no real way to be better (that I can see) than anyone else. There's a certain amount of multi tasking that's needed to control your fragmented army, but outside of that the game more or less plays itself. (By control, I mean move. There is no micro in this game.)

Sounds pretty accurate to Manhammer, 'cept the Hero part. Unless you're Chip. Then your heroes are suk.

Huh, so I was talking to a guy in Darkfall beta on another forum in private and he said the game is decent, he found it more fun than Warhammer

Tried out Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 tonight. Tons of fun. The game's really damn pretty and the gameplay itself is quite realistic. Controls are easy to pick up - the four main buttons have a function (three different types of passes, and a shoot button) and holding down L1 plus any of those buttons will result in a variation of the move (akin to Smash Bros. controls). The accuracy and power of passes are dependant on how long the player holds down the button, so there's plenty of room for finesse.
The teams are very thorough, so there's plenty of choices there, and multiplayer supports up to 6 people, with online play as an option, too. All in all, should be a fun thing to do if we all get together (bring a d-pad) and play.
