Well, a win's a win, and for Savior, that's a little rare these days.
The first match was crazy.. making the Toss player lose a lot of gas by assassinating a shitton of High Templar... with MUTAS?!?!?! I liked what he did at the end of the match to block reinforcements from stopping the small group of Hydras from killing the final Nexus and starving him out. Hella relentless, even as he was losing groups of Hydras.
The second game was just dumb. Dunno wtf Shine was doing. Over invested in turrets and a Factory into Starports for late Science Vessels that did nothing. FE for nothing as well, since he couldn't hold it, sort of a wasted bunker in the beginning, all of which could and should have been invested instead into.. I dunno.. Barracks? I hear they're good when you have more than two. Even the little kid who played against Jaedong made three barracks and held off a lot longer. There's something seriously wrong when your science vessels are being hunted down by Mutas that are ignoring your insignificant M&Ms.

I'm moreso talking about his fucking micro. Its finally not suck. Harassing with less than 6 lings at a time successfully killing scvs and never losing all the lings till his mutas came out. The fact that his harass actually slowed down Shine's turrets is retarded and Shine lost his scouting scv before Savior's lair started so he couldn't time when his turrets should start going up. Pretty amusing to see a zerg player set his rally point just outside the opponent's base and switch out near dead mutas during harass.

Yeah, I noticed that. Some of those came back as Guardians.. loved how Shine GG's right when he sees them.
And definitely sick micro. I actually liked his micro in the first game with the mutas more just because of all the templar he killed while dodging storms. Hella cool.

Thanks for the post.
God, that commentator in the old Boxer vid was annoying. I suppose things were different in 2002 and the West had less exposure overall to Starcraft, but the audience comment he made was particularly dumb. How can a cheering audience be an annoyance if you're in a soundproof coffin? How can getting more fans of the game (which can result in better profit margins for pro-gaming) ever be a bad thing? If he believes Boxer's Marines can't do shit to Lurkers, fine. It was 2002 and people held to those beliefs I guess. The audience part... just plain ignorant, no matter the year.
Edit - FBH crying. FTW.

Also the whole "If he can hear the other announcers that would be cheating for him!" Cus as soon as the guy drops down in a location Boxers goes and patrols it and finds it.
I saw Boxer's game vs FBH, I saw the fear in FBH's eyes in wanting to dance.

So I did a little random Starcraft reading, particularly on news of SC2 (since there's at least real news now). Haven't done that in a while and wanted to catch up on the world of Korean supremacy.
They're still testing the game, but more and more people, even non-pros are getting a shot at playing. Blizzard allowed some representatives from different Starcraft online communities to check the game out, and TeamLiquid (teamliquid.net) had a pretty extensive report on their experiences playing the game. They demolished the other SC communities, which kind of doesn't surprise me.
The real interesting note is how build orders will definitely change. Players start with 6 drones now, at 10 supply, with each drone mining 6 minerals each time. The only unit I hear getting repeated over and over again: Roaches. Roaches are a very resilient Zerg unit that costs 100 min 25 gas each, and go really well with Zerglings. They come out fairly early, too. Other than that, most of the game reports consisted of rushes with somewhat familiar units, or 200/200 supply armies with quick GG's... so not too much detail of other units.
Just a tidbit to share, otherwise. No one can say for sure about the game's balance, because that takes time to determine, and things can still change. Still, it's nice to know that the game is similar enough to pick up in short order, but will be different enough to include new discoveries.

It seems like GomTV is planning to start another Starcraft singles league, in similar format to the MSL and or OSL. Though they've been hesitant in actually starting it up for whatever reason (probably due to the ridiculious amount of official games programmers already have to play throughout the year. So this explains all the random tournaments sponsored by GomTV (GSI for example).

For a more reasonable (non cheating) computer opponent, download Ahzz's AI. For the most part it doesn't rush and uses more realistic build orders. The micro is still non-existent, but the macro is pretty good. www.broodwarai.com/index.phpClick on the Mods tab on the left and it should be the first link.
